Strength Training for Kids

When we talk ‘strength training for kids’, we’re talking about the absolute foundation of all the movement skills from the absolute base, up to being able to spontaneously move their body confidently and competently, in any sport or activity, flawlessly.

If we get technical, there are six primal movement patterns - the squat, lunge, hinge, push, pull, core. When we break down movement skills into parts and pieces of movements, we can embed the proper patterns from day one for them to be able to have the maximum potential they need for any sport or activity.

Because kids may not be getting as much organic free play and outdoor play, we need to book them into organised, structured activities to expose them to a large variety of movement experiences.

We want to expose them to physical challenges they may not get just at school sports or playing soccer for example: Jumping, hopping, squatting, rolling, falling, twisting, tumbling, rough play, hanging, climbing, running, catching, throwing, kicking, pushing, pulling, skipping.

We are meeting more and more kids at the age of 8-9 years old having large movement gaps, for example not being out to jump off 2 feet and land on two feet. Purely because they may not have been as exposed to the opportunity.

At Fit2SHiNE, we provide the environment for all kids, at all levels of movement experience, to progress at their own rate and slowly, week after week, see themselves improve, build confidence, and start to love being active.
